Overview of Role Thorn SDS are a niche Managed Service Provider based in Alton, Hampshire, who are committed to enabling technology organisations and professionals to thrive within the Space, Defence and Security sectors. We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Network Engineer to work at our secure site in Farnborough. As Senior Network Engineer, you will serve as an experienced practitioner with the ability to execute complex network engineering tasks and oversee the output of a team of network engineers. This role requires expertise in Networking Protocols, Routing and Switching, Network Security, Network Monitoring and Management, Network Visualisation, Network Troubleshooting, Cloud Networking, and Network Automation. We are currently looking for a level 4/5 Fixed Term Contract Network Engineer to work at our secure site in Farnborough. We anticipate this role to continue for 10 months, with the possibility of extending. As a Thorn SDS Network Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the technology systems have the correct network infrastructure developed for the specific environments. This will include (but not limited to) configuration and management of routers and switches, routing protocols, VLAN configuration, network segmentation, virtualisation, cloud networking, network automation, generation of detailed network designs, and configuration, including reports on network performance. As the Spacecraft Operations Engineer, you will have experience of Spacecraft Operations within large / complex missions and have had responsibility for one or more platform subsystems or instruments during operational validation, commissioning, or routine operations phases.  The languages of the workplace are English and French. The working language on this Mission is English and you must be able to communicate effectively in a fast paced, highly technical environment.
