IT Team Leader

Salary competitive Based Farnborough, Hampshire Our skilled team of IT Engineers carry out essential support to a secure operational network. Activities include system design, performance optimisation, fault identification and fix, 24/7 incident management, preventative/corrective maintenance, sustainment, patch management, and both hardware and software integration. The operation is highly configured and comprises a mix of Linux and Windows devices across a number of sites. We are looking for a Team Leader with highly developed people skills to empathetically manage the team ensuring that we deliver services to our client with a continual focus on quality, customer satisfaction and resource optimisation in an agile operational environment. The role requires someone who can accurately plan the project work, support the team with achievable delivery schedules and be responsible for delivering programme changes and variations whilst managing our client’s expectations. IT Engineer

System Operations Engineer

Thorn SDS is part of the incumbent System Operations Engineering team based onsite at EUMETSAT providing services focussed on real time end-to-end mission operations and the systems required to support them, including communications networks, operational infrastructure, operation security training and interfacing with Flight Operations. The services support the routine operational phases of EUMETSAT MSG and EPS systems, Copernicus systems as well as to support the preparation of future missions including MTG. We are bidding to retain these services and part of our solution enables us to showcase 1 or 2 high quality new candidates that we will propose join our team, on or around June 2022, to address the expanding client requirements. Whilst we are aware that it is impractical to completely commit to such a timescale, we are seeking candidates that are applying in the full knowledge that this is the likely time scale and can therefore plan accordingly. Spacecraft Operations Engineer – Germany

We are searching for a Spacecraft Operations Engineer to complement our team in Germany. This is a great opportunity to develop and grow your career in a multi-national environment under the guidance of industry experts. Candidates must be excellent communicators in English with a passion for the Space Industry. The responsibilities of the service include the routine and special operations of operational METEOSAT spacecraft, continuous monitoring of spacecraft performance and the operations preparation of the next generation of geostationary spacecraft.  In addition to a relevant university degree, team members are expected to have expertise across one or more subsystems (METEOSAT, MTG or similar EO Payload would be ideal, thermal, power, TT&C), knowledge of python programming and able to work seamlessly together with the rest of the team to ensure a level of competence is always available.  Experience of Spacecraft Operations or Spacecraft Operations Preparation, preferably on Geostationary Earth Orbit (GOE) would be considered advantageous. The role will develop with the phases of the missions, so we are looking for engineers who can demonstrate initiative and flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
